Remote maintenance: Jan Stephan connects through an encrypted VPN tunnel to the router in your plant and the PLC, finds the cause, and the message on the HMI changes from fault to running. When the machine stops and nobody knows what to do

A fault without a clear message, the automation engineer is on holiday, and the manufacturer’s service cannot be reached straight away. Every hour of downtime costs production.

Often the cause is not where the message points. With access to the controller and diagnostics, a lot can be narrowed down before anyone travels.

What I take on for you

Diagnostics via PLC, HMI and drives.

  • On-site visits

How a service call runs

  1. Call

You describe the fault. I tell you straight away whether I can help and how we proceed.

  2. Diagnosis

Via remote access where possible, otherwise on site at the machine.

  3. Fix and report

After the visit you receive the cause, action and recommendation in writing.

From practice

Maintenance of a can filling line

For more than four years I fixed faults on the filler, seamer, labeller, packer and palletiser, mechanical and electrical. That is where I learned that the cause is rarely where the fault is displayed.

Frequently asked questions

How quickly can you be on site?

That depends on distance and workload. When you call, I give you a specific appointment. With remote access I can start the diagnosis without travelling.

What do you need for remote access?

Access approved by your IT, for example via VPN or a remote maintenance router. I only connect by arrangement and only for the duration of the job.

How do you charge?

On-site fault calls by time and material, remote diagnosis and maintenance at a flat rate or by subscription. I tell you the terms on the phone. All prices apply to businesses.

Fault on the machine?

Call and describe the problem, at weekends too. I will tell you how we proceed.
